Shatterford Evening Series
Round 2. 20.6.24
First of all, we send our condolences to the Colley family at Birchwood Farm. Anne Colleym wife of Jim sadly passed away a few days ago. Anne was always very welcoming to us as a club and when riding at her farm. She recently popped down to have a chat with me while I was on the chainsaw moving some dead trees. She wished us all well and said she hoped everyone had fun.

Round 2 of the series clashed with the England game, although from what I've heard, no one missed much! We had a still very good entry of 39 riders for this round. With a very late finish at round 1, the hot weather forecast and the old grumble round 1 was a little hard on the red and yellow route, I decided to ease things a little and give everyone a fun ride out. At round 3, I've decided to put at least 1, maybe 2 sections in that will be a real stopper for the reds to separate the scores a little, and a red like route for the yellows.

On the reds, Ben Rolls took the win cleaning the trial. Ben missed round 1 unfortunately but he was back with a bang here. Paul Wareing was riding himself, keeping an eye on our Kayleigh and his mate Ash, and also only managed to drop one. Jack Harris was in 3rd, with just two. Very tight at the top between 3 very good expert riders. It's great to have support from such a diverse level of rider and it keeps me on my toes trying to test these guys but also making it rideable for the rest. Mitch Reynolds on a borrowed Beta 300 was on 5, and Andrew Richardson was on 7. However, Andy gave us all an ice lolly before the start, which automatically qualifies him for the win! (Anyone bringing cake wins the whole championship) Only joking of course, but thank you Andy! David Lewis was next, with Les Wood just 3 points back. Ash Bray had some good riders round on his first visit to the ground.

On the youth side, Ethan Richardson took the win with 7 dropped, same as his Dad! Kayleigh Rich was 4 back on 11, and Zach Reynolds was on 12. Zach a little unlucky not to take joint 1st and possibly the win depending on most cleans etc, after a 5 on section 8. All 3 are really good kids, super talented and known eachother a while now. Kayleigh is super shy but she does enjoy riding with the boys and watching them ride. Luke Stansbie had a tough ride round but battled on to finish the trial. Well done Luke!

The yellow route! The middle route, the hardest to get right. I overheard a couple saying it was too easy. The problem is the entry on a middle route is so varied. You have kids, 70 year olds, clubmen, classic bikes, modern bikes, and so on. I did plan for this one to be easier. As above, I think what we needed was one section to really split the scores. Joint winners on cleans were Mark Tagg & Simon Ward. Joint 2nd, as they both went the same distance clean was Steven Mantle & Nicole Tagg. 3rd place based on dabbing soonest in the lap was Jack Hipkiss. Only 3 points dropped out of the top 5 riders! On just 2 dropped was Steve Dean. Bill Woodcock, Steve Casey, David Fletcher, Phil Aucott & Thomas Powell all had great riders with all less than 12 dropped. Well done all!

On the youth, Jack Rich took his new TRS 80cc bike round on 1 dropped. Jack is in the awkward position of not quite being ready for the routes higher up wherever he rides, but having easier days out on the route down. A keen football goalkeeper, and into everything, Jack is just happy to have a ride round. 2nd place, also on a TRS 80cc was Josh Wood. Jack & Josh had a nice ride round together; Josh only dropped 3 for a great ride. Oliver Bird was 3rd on 6 dropped, with Harvey Reynolds on 12. A nice evening out for the kids on the yellows.

White route adult, just the one rider & the 4th of team Reynolds! John Reynolds went round on his BSA and hopefully had a fun evening.

White route youth, again full of young lady riders. 11 year old Isobel Mantle only rode her first trial 2 weeks ago. She cleaned the trial with ease and is probably ready to tackle the yellows when she feels ready. Eden Start was 2nd on just 1 dropped, with Michael Powell on 2. Lia Jones was 4th and had probably her best ride round that I've seen. James Papworth had a couple of crashes and worked hard for his result and should be proud. I'm unsure of James age at the time of writing but he has plenty of years ahead of him and rides really well! Michael's sister Sasha Powell brought home a 5th place finish, with Lottie Danson & Archie Malling completing the finishers list.
Round 3 & the final round is just a couple of weeks away on Thursday 4th July. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
Cheers! Team MK Off Road.
Andy, Caz, Kayleigh & Jack x
